Course Full Description: This class is intended to provide students with a broad overview of the study of criminology or, more specifically, the study of law making, law breaking and law enforcement. Throughout the course will be an emphasis on theory, empirical research, and social issues – such as gender, race/ ethnicity, and social class. We will also pay close attention to white collar crime, as well as street crime. The subject matter of this course is intended to provide essential knowledge for all students of sociology as well as those primarily interested in criminology.
Prerequisites: This course is reserved for students enrolled in the Finish@UT or UTEP BMS programs. CRIJ 1302 Introduction to Criminal Justice II or its equivalent with a grade of C or better. Junior standing or higher required.
